Overview

HBN Announcement Bar is a Shopify app provided by HBN Studio. The app lets merchants create and publish announcement bar messages on their Shopify storefront through a theme app extension.

This policy explains what data the app uses, why it is used, and how merchants can contact us about privacy-related questions.

Information We Process

• Shop domain and Shopify app installation information.
• Shopify session tokens needed to authenticate the merchant.
• Announcement bar settings saved by the merchant, including message text, links, discount code text, countdown settings, colors, country targeting settings, and dismiss settings.
• Shopify billing status used to determine whether Free or Pro features are available.
• Basic technical logs from our hosting provider that help keep the app secure and reliable.

Storefront Visitor Data

The storefront announcement bar is rendered from merchant-managed app settings. The app does not intentionally collect, sell, or share storefront visitor personal information.

If a merchant enables the dismiss button, the visitor's browser stores a local preference in localStorage so the bar can remain hidden for the configured duration. This value stays in the visitor's browser and is not sent to our servers.

• To authenticate merchants and operate the embedded Shopify app.
• To save and publish announcement bar configuration.
• To enforce Free and Pro feature access.
• To troubleshoot, secure, and improve the app.
• To respond to merchant support requests.

Service Providers

We use Shopify to provide app installation, authentication, billing, and storefront extension functionality. We use Vercel to host the app and Neon/PostgreSQL to store Shopify session data and related app operation data. We use tawk.to to provide the support center and process information merchants choose to submit there.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep app data for as long as needed to provide the app to the merchant. When a merchant uninstalls the app, Shopify sends an uninstall webhook and app session data can be removed from our systems. Merchants can contact us to request deletion of app data associated with their store.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit access to operational data and use established platform providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, and billing.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy when the app changes or when legal, operational, or platform requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
